Stupidist wireless networking question ever...

OK, first of all I am a complete nOOb to wireless networking and I'm trying to avoid drilling a hole into my house to run another cable.

Can I take my cable modem connect it to a wireless router and have it work if it's not connected to a PC? Like if I wanted to put just my cable modem and a wireless router in my garage (where the cable line comes in) and then get a wireless network adapter for my PC. Would I be able to use the internet that way or does the router need to be connected to a PC with a cable?

The router will need to be physically connected to computer for configuration but otherwise you can go wireless on all comps.

It should work.

However configuring the Router through the Wireless connection might be a "messy" thing.

Since the Wireless is not very Stable, and might fade in out due to disturbances it advisable to configure it with Cable and then it can be used as Wireless only.

Ever heard that axiom regarding Real Estate? Location, location, location?

That can apply to Wireless Routers too. If you have a good connection when wired, and bad when wireless, remember..........location, location, location.
