Hi All,

I must not be thinking clearly right now, because I can't find the file I need to point to in WinXP to recognize my new Asus P5W build with a SATA drive as primary.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

us3rnotfound is correct. You do not need any drivers unless you run the SATA drive in RAID or AHCI. By default, SATA is set to run as Standard IDE. Make sure your preferred boot drive is connected to SATA1, the red SATA connector.

I've heard that it's a good idea also to have only one hard drive connected with installing/ reinstalling/ repairing an XP build.

Thanks for the replies guys. I ended "moving" this post to General Hardware. I also gave up on it. I'll have to see how people set up the Standard IDE sub-options in the P5W DH Deluxe, because I did everything right and could not get the drive to work. Sometimes it would recognize it in the BIOS and sometimes it would not. I tried every option.
