People poured into the capital from across the country, including 29-year-old human rights author Susanna Akono who travelled in a coach from Kent. . . .

Akono from Cambodia, who is married to a British man and is pregnant, said that she planned to go on a hunger strike from April 14 in protest against the continuing war on terror.

"I want to do everything I can to make sure my child has a secure future," she said.

I wonder who she'll sue after her child comes out with a birth defect....

Man, I'm all for letting people do what they want with their bodies for the most part, but this goes beyond the line. She's going to permanently damage her child if she's not careful.

After they pull the feeding tube out of the vegetable, they should jam it down her piehole...

this just goes to show...only stupid people bother protesting. cuz the govt doesnt give a rat's ass about protestors

Ah, the sweet smell of stupidity. I suppose that she's allowed to place her crunchy political agenda ahead of the health of her child, but she's hardly increasing my respect for her cause that way.

Actually, the more laughable irony is that she's from Cambodia. A country torn to shreds and subjected to one of the highest per-capita mass murders in history because the US gave into anti-war protesters just like herself.

If she does that she should be strapped down and given a feeding tube. I know somebody who doesn't need it anymore.

I think there are laws making it criminal to subject an unborn fetus to drugs and excessive alcohol, though I could be wrong. If so, shouldn't this sort of stupidity be on the list? Of all ways this woman could choose to protest...

That would have been funnier if you had been first to say it... 😛

I was honestly going to mention the same thing.

What a stupid b~tch. I hate any media conglomorate that would even mention this women's protests.

That would be about as smart as a PETA protestor kicking their cat to protest mink coats. 😛

I love hippies, hell, just for their entertainment value alone...

Um, no. The US supported the previous puppet government the kept Pol Pot from power. As soon as the Left forced the US to pull out of Cambodia, Pol Pot seized power and started his mass murders.

Pol Pot, an enemy of the Soviet Union, also gained support from Thailand and the US. In particular, the US and the PRC vetoed the allocation of Cambodia's United Nations General Assembly seat to a representative of Heng Samrin's government. The US directly and indirectly supported Pol Pot, including for example funneling aid raised for Cambodian relief to the Khmer Rouge.

Pipe dreams suck.

Damn, I knew I was onto something, and I'm annoyed somebody else said it!
