Stupid XP Desktop settings question...............

My 20 month old decided to pound on my keyboard for a while and has messed up my icons.

I have a photo set as my background on the desktop. Before there were no borders around the icons,
all you saw was the picture in the background. Now it shows a colored border and its ANNOYING! lol.

I can change the color but I cant make it clear or no border like it was before.

HELP!!!

Do you mean a coloured box around the icon text?

If so, then right click on My Computer - Properties - Advanced - Performance - Tick the 'Use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop' box
or just use the 'Adjust for best appearance' selection, which enables all the eye candy stuff.

Yes the colored box around the text. I tried that, it was already set to best appearnace and the box is checked, now what! lol

Its just a jpeg picture from a digicam. This just happened it did look right before the baby went to punding on the keyboard and mouse. lol

In Display Properties, try going to Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Web -> uncheck Lock desktop Items.

edit: Try this too...Go to system properties (Windows Key + Pause/nBreak) -> Advanced ->Performance Settings -> check Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop.
