I'm using their hosting and blogging software. I want to have posts either go to a unique page when you click on a post, or have that post expand when you click on it, rather than having 6-7 pages of text per blog posting. For the life of me I can't find any way to do it in the control panel and all the google searches I do turn up the standalone software, which I'm not using.

Link to your blog? I'm not sure if I follow..

Each post is generated as a unique page, and when you click on the title it should take it to an individual page. No further action is needed.

Do you have an example of what you want done?

My blog:

dshumphreys.wordpress.com

Ideally I'd like to just have a short paragraph of the post, then when it's clicked, the full post is displayed. I was thinking the excerpt function did this but it doesn't seem to work.

On self-hosted Wordpress, you would insert <!-- more --> into the text

Same concept on Wordpress.com blogs. There's even a button in the default editor, next to the hyperlink buttons, that looks like a line break icon. I briefly looked in the settings menus and didn't see a way to have this automatically do it, but I'm sure there's a plugin for that. Altho I guess you can't use plugins on wordpress.com blogs.
