stupid Win8 installer msg: "This system doesn't meet requirements"

I am using an i5-2500K running at 4.4 GHz with 16 GB ram on Win7 x64.
The Win8 setup program tells me that my system does not meet minimum requirements.

I am downloading the iso directly now and planning to install it in a virtual machine.

This message does not inspire confidence in the quality of the Win8 code.

Anyone else see this message?

No problems here. Did the installer give you any indication about what exactly caused you to fail to meet the minimum system requirements?

What program are you using to run it as a virtual machine?

Did you disable Virtualization support in the BIOS?
