Stupid things people do

2 examples from today, same parking lot, within 30 seconds of each other.

1) I'm driving down the side of a building, and a woman decides she doesn't want to walk on the sidewalk (it had some snow on it), so she walks 5 feet in the road away from the sidewalk, because there's no puddles or snow there. This is right near a corner where people can't see too well, so cars are coming around and having to swerve to avoid hitting her, yet she keeps going. She gets a 2 on the Clue-O-Meter.

2) After I turn the corner and am driving through the parking lot, someone ahead of me on the right is backing out of a spot. Being the Christmas season, and me being a nice guy, I slow and stop, and wave them out. They take their sweet time pulling out, while cars pile up behind me, then start going forward in front of me. Ahead of them I see someone starting to back out, further away than I was from them when I stopped. Do they stop? Nah, they speed up, and jerk their car to the left around this person, causing them to stop short and a guy coming the other way to stop to avoid getting in a head on collision. I'm glad they passed on that little bit of Christmas/Holiday spirit I sent their way.

Anyone else get the feeling that the overall intelligence factor tends to drop a bit when going into a major holiday, or is it possibly just the cold? Has to be something, because I see people doing some of the dumbest things I've ever seen on a daily basis, things that are just so unsafe that it boggles my mind how they aren't dead yet.

That's a good idea, but I'd think it'd give the tigers indigestion. Not a good diet, stupid people. I'd much more prefer some sort of specially trained ninja, thousands of them, hiding everywhere. Somebody does something dumb, and they just pop out and take them down. More entertaining, you know it's coming, just not from where.

Nah, just remove the warning labels from everything. The problem will solve itself.

Well, that'd just create more lawsuits. Unless we outlawed lawyers. We need to create an atmosphere that encourages people to become smarter, or to simply die.

I do "blonde' things on a regular basis, but it almost exclusively only affects me.....I think😛

As long as it's not walking in traffic I'd say you're all set.

Bah... that's nothing. Last night my friend had a huge brainfart at a red light. He stopped and about a minute later he just goes without realizing that the light is still red for a very busy intersection. Thank god it was around 1130 and the road was fairly empty or I may not have been posting here tonight....

The two examples that you gave are not a lack of common sense, they're just examples of typical holiday consumer rudeness and having no consideration for anyone except themselves. As long as they get the crap they need for the idiot's closest to them, then no one else matters.

Sometimes I wish that I could go through life with the selfish indifference of these assholes. But my conscience would not allow it.

There is a guy here in CT, who did not want to, or could not, go to his court appearance for a minor traffic offense. He called in bomb threats for all the court houses in the state. If he is convicted he will get a minimum of 61 years in jail.

He has confessed to making the phone calls.

No, I do not think all people are stupid. And I do not think pointing out the behavior of a small number of people says anything in general about the whole population.

Small number? It's a lot more than that, maybe not everybody does really incredibly stupid things, but a lot of people do smaller, more minor things that I'd still consider lacking in common sense. I can't find a link right off, but there was a poll on people's driving behavior that showed that only 1/3 of the people asked actually used their blinkers properly. Many of the people in the poll had no idea that things like passing on the right were technically violations, and like a quarter admitted to passing on the LEFT over the double lines to go around someone who was turning right.
