stupid thermal-compound question

My XPC arrived today! Woohoo! But now I don't know how to put the thermal compound on the CPU.

The photo shows a white blob, but I can't tell how far around the center chip to put the white goo. Does it cover the tiny squares around the main die (are they resistors?) or just the central chip?

I would suggest you get some Arctic Silver 5 and then follow these instructions
but if you choose to use the white stuff that came with it, then you can still follow those above instructions.
