You can't be held responsible for meetings held outside of the alloted class time unless agreed upon. Many colleges actually have a rule about this and will side with you on this should a dispure arise from it.

In any case, do the midterm. Sitting around waiting for it and not catching yourself up in the studying isn't going to help. Look on the bright side... he could have given it to you a week ago and you would have probably failed.
