I figured something had to be up, due to the number of clueless idiots that kept calling me and telling me they wanted to look at houses I was selling. Turns out this jackass also sold a house with some unlisted problems to a friend of mine.

Think I am going to change my voicemail message to say something along the lines of, "Do you REALLY want to buy a house from someone so stupid that they give out someone else's phone number as their own? By the way, it's a REALLY good idea to hire an engineer of your choosing to check out ANY house you might buy, no matter who the real estate agent is. You might save yourself a lot of money if you do."

He has an office number and a fax number listed on the site, and under mobile he has my number. Not a number close to mine, but my exact cell phone number.

His mobile one may be close to mine, no idea, since his isn't actually listed. 😛 He ought to have figured out something was awry by now, considering I have received messages from the same people both before and after they have talked to him. He had to realize something was amiss if they referenced calls to his mobile that he never received, as seems to be the case on the messages they have left me.

In the comments portion of the MLS there is a place to put contact information for the seller. It's pretty easy (for an idiot) to mix up the contact information. That's the reason you're getting phone calls.
 
I'd definitely change the message and do what you said.

I love watching the House Detective show on HGTV. I always laugh when these idiots buy a house and don't have a home inspector check it out first. How stupid can you be. Pay a couple hundred grand for something jsut because it "looks" nice. You get what you deserve if you don't get a home inspector to check out the property before you buy.

Here in WI it's standard practice to make any offer on a house contingent on it passing a home inspector checking it out.

Too damned cold in the Winter, Winter is too long, and while I actually rather like cold, snow, and darkness in general, having all three combined for months on end is rather wearing. My friends are all moving out of state, the job market sucks, and various other reasons.
 
Hook up with a realtor and get finders fees....when you answer the phone, just pretend you're the agent....
