Stupid razr v3c battery...

Well I got a razr v3c as a free upgrade a couple weeks ago and I love the phone, but hate the battery. It lasts no more than 24 hours. The thing stays on full 4 bars for a good 12 to 16 hours, then drops to 3 for a few hours, then 2 for maybe an hour, then 1.

The verizon store replaced the battery 3 times already, then they replaced the whole phone, and it still doesn't work well. The people at the store just say that the razr battery life isn't good to begin with since it's so thin. I know a lot of people with the razr phone and their batteries do fine though...at least two days for them.

So...any suggestions? What about the extended battery? It's 50 or 60 bucks but if it really gives me a longer battery life, it would be worth it.

my g/f razr lasts 2-3 days, we live in San Fran so we always have reception.. if your phone is going in and out of places with low reception, it will tend to use more battery to find a service.. some questions to consider:

1) have you charged and discharged the battery when you first got it? And cycled it through a couple of times
2) How is your coverage? Are you getting EVDO and 1X?
3) Firmware version you are using? The latest I think was V4
4) How long do you talk on the phone? I had the Razr and with my support calls, I was down to 1 bar of battery by days end..

If you are in a fringe EVDO area, where the phone is switching from 1X to EVDO and back again, your battery will suffer.

Batteries take 4-5 at least cycles before they are 100%. Charge it at least 4 hours, not just till the phone says "charge complete". I charge mine every 3 days.

My V3C battery lasts for almost a week. I turned EVDO off since I don't have VCast.

Hmm that's strange. I had VCast for a little but cancelled it (my phone still does the little vcast thing when I turn it on though). There is a little icon at the top of the phone that says EV and sometimes says 1X - sounds like the problem Scott was saying...any way I can disable EVDO or turn it off?

My S/W version is GATW_01.15.04

One weird thing about the battery is that it doesn't say "charging complete" after it's done. While its charging, it blinks 1 bar, 1 bar, then 2 bar, 2 bar...etc...but when it finishes it just stays on 4 bars.

The USA has the oldest and dumbest phones ever.

Even in China, I saw some of the coolest phones in the stores there. And every single person has a really nice looking phone. We're just a little behind the times here.

I was thinking of getting a razr v3 for my tmobile service. I don't want to renew my contract, nor spend a ton of money. What do you guys think of the razr? I was after a flip with bluetooth, and I am hard as hell on my phones. I beat the crap out of them regularly, so the aluminum case has a certain appeal

I've had my RAZR since July and I still get 2-3 days, even with regular use.

My V3Cs battery life sucks too. Its aggrivating.

I did flash to the original firmware, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Well I looked it up in Yahoo and found a guide. It was actually pretty complicated. But I disabled it anyway. Hope it helps.
