Raccoons love an easy meal.

There was a big fat one who used to hang outside the lab I used to work during the graveyard shift. He nearly got hit by a car on a few occasions - I really felt sorry for the poor guy. He was lurking around the trash bins, rooting around for food.

I would see a lot of animals that late/early, including bats, deer, stray kittens and adult cats, possums, foxes, and once a coyote (there were coyote attacks reported in the area at the time, too). My favorites were the rabbits who always on the field munching, or walking around on the pathway.

i just toss the trap in the water, its not very exciting
That's what my grandpa did with groundhogs and raccoons.
Horrible, but it's the easiest, cheapest and it is relatively quick.
He had a 55 gallon barrel that was always full of water. 🙁

The raccoon didn't show up last night.
I hope I catch him tonight, because I am leaving for a few days and I don't want him setting up shop.

I should have shot him when I had the chance!!!

Caught these 2 young ones in my front yard trying to learn how to make new ones. <----------

🙂
