ok...i'm a pc guy. office suddenly wants to upgrade our macs(we have 2, 4yr old macs) to OSX. Will it work fine? Does OSX install/upgrade fine in all 3/4 yr old Macs? Do i just go out and buy the CD and put it in and it upgrades by itself?

how do u recover passwords or reset them? i turn on the machine and it works but when i try to change settings it asks me for username/password...which no one seems to know.

just checked ...yeah OS9. how to recover passwd? how does Mac os work? i mean it logs me in automatically and i can do almost everything except critical os stuff. i think i can't mess with the networking...like give the machine a static ip...that kinda thing.

Not all older Macs can run OSX.
Plan on upgrading the RAM in both machines.
Plan on losing alot of speed.
Plan on buying all new software. ;)

Full specs on the macs would be nice. Then we can confirm if it will work, and which version - should be fine though. OS 9 is stupid. Been ages since I've used it though so can't help with that password problem. It's good they want to move to OS X.
