stupid question

A hub just connects computers together but does not direct network traffic in any way. A router will direct traffic to specific computers depending on which computer it is intended for.

Almost...but of course a hub "directs" traffic to each computer. A router more specifically is used to join two networks together and route the traffic between the two as it is sent/requested rather than making the two networks one big one which then share all the traffic.

You can get technical and say a hub directs traffic, but really it does not. It gets a signal in one port and spits it out all the others, it is a dumb device. But that is all just nitpicking. A router will look at IP addresses and make a forwarding decision.
