Stupid Question

How do I download enough work units to keep my system going while I'm at work. I have a modem connection and don't want it to connect while I'm away. I have a Cel II @566 or 850 depending upon it's mood. How many whould I set it to and how do I do it?

Thanks.

For RC5:

Right-click the client, hit configure.

For 6) Keyserver<->client connectivity options, hit enter, 2, then 0.

The last thing is to have this under 2) Buffer and Buffer Update Options at the main menu:

14) Fetch time threshold (in hours) ==> RC5=120

DanC- Looks like you beat ME to it this time. 🙂

PS: If you have the client installed already, you might just want to do what I have up there. But, if you don't have it installed, then download from DanC's link for modems, that will be easier by FAR..

Thanks.

Right after I posted I found Russ's post and copied the lines from his .ini file for people with dialup connections. I have it set to 500.

Tomorrow I'll try to get it working through the firewall at work.

22 hours and counting 'til I'm a TA member...

Woohoo!!!

Welcome Brother.

BTW - Watch out for this one... his name in German means "King"! 🙂

Konig,

This your subject reminds me of a quote I once hear "Stupid Questions are better than stupid mistakes" (or running out of rc5 workunits)

Oh, and welcome aboard🙂

Welcome aboard Konig !

If on crack @850 24/7, it will produce about 700K daily. Thats what I have on my private fighter.

Thanks for the welcome, all!

From midnight to 7AM it did over 250 units.

Mandrill: With my ISP's record (MSN=50%) I think I'll do it.

Now, how do I get this to work through the firewall? I heard something about PProxy. What's that and how do I use/get it?

BTW, DanC. My name is King. My grandfather changed it from Konig when he moved to the US in the 1920's.
