You asked a stupid question in the wrong forum. I know it must be a real ordeal for you to click back to the main menu, but it really isn't that hard.Originally posted by: Spooner

I think the point is that if people keep coming here with tech support problems, people will get the idea that it's ok and post more threads asking for help.

Then maybe I'll be able to help them. I never look in most of the other forums where they would ask this question.Originally posted by: yoda291

This was a 2-second answer. That's Off-Topic enough for me. Takes longer to whine and complain about it... it's kinda like asking your coworker for a pen and having him say, "Well let me refer you to Management," and them Management comes back with, "We'll have to get you a new pen, let me refer you to Purchasing." Purchasing forwards the request to the powers-that-be, who determine that it's not in the budget. Sorry, no pen.

the problem is this. if I can get a pen from you, bob figures you've got pens to spare, so you give him a pen as well. people see this, figure instead of actual going through the procedure of procuring a pen in that it's just more convenient to get a pen from you. Eventually it just becomes common practice to go to you to get a pen instead of actually putting in a request for a pen. So for the people asking for the pen, it's a lot quicker and more convenient. Problem is, instead of having purchasing deal with pen requests like they're supposed to, because you're suddenly everyone's pen dealer. No one will want to go to purchasing just for a stupid pen so you have to dole out pens instead of the person who is supposed to do so in asset management, which isn't what you're there to do is it?
This is why these things are nicely delineated.

*sigh*
Why must we make things so complicated?
Pens belong in the pen drawer.
Underwear belongs in the underwear drawer.
When you start mixing them up, it's hard to find things when you need them.
