It's probably just me, and again...we come back to the Rose tinted glasses..but many of the gameplay elements of the older games were brilliant, and really still are today.
X-Com, Star Control 2 - Pax Imperia 2 - Deadlock - Masters of Magic - Alpha Centauri -
Most of the developers are dead (company wise) - Why can't someone just invest a few hundred grand on marketing and a overhaul of the graphics (Alot harder than I think?) add some SMALL gameplay mechanic changes and boom..instant hit and a fraction of the cost?
There are many older games that I'd play in a heart beat if they had - Online Multiplayer support or Updated Graphics and UI.
What stops developers from ressurecting titles? Licensing Issues?
Sure the game might not be a blockbuster remake but surely it should make a profit?
(I am aware that the few remakes that do exist are terribad for some reason)
Thoughts?
