Ok I have a very simple netowrk running in my house

It is connected like this

DSL -> Clarkconnect Server -> Lynksys 5 port switch -> computers

The switch is full and I want to add another comp. I want to know If I can just go buy another 5 port switch and what I should look for.

II am looking at making it like this

DSL -> Server -> lynksys switch -> computers
.................................. \
.................................... -> new switch -> computers

Will this work or do I need to buy an 8 port and sell my little 5 port?

the .................. are just for formating.

Hey, cut me some slack here, it is almost 03:30 am, the Mean Mod drank all the coffee, the Funny Mod lost the key to the bathroom, and I am pulling a double shift because Wduanqnug is posting usless crap again

Watchfull Mod

I love that..and yes you should be able to plus a standard patch cable from a regular port on one switch to a uplink port ont he other or a crossover from regular port to regular port. most newer ones are auto sensing so you just pulg any cable form any switch and it should work.

my linksys has an uplink port so I could just get the 29.99 dlink and use that in conjuction or do I need to get another linksys?

this would for all intents give me one big switch right?

Any switch will do. If it doesn't have an uplink port and the ports aren't auto-sensing, you'll need to get a crossover patch cable.
