Just got a slot1 p3-450, I know i need to get a fan and HS for it, but when it got here (bought from another person) It has what looks like Half of a case around the p3, with one side open. Do i need to remove this one i get a hs and fan for it, or duz this part stay on? Just havent seen this before, mainly worked with 370 chips.

Thx!

PIII 450s are SECC2s, which means that the side that faces the heatsink should be bare. The core should come in direct contact with the heatsink for better cooling. Make sure you get an appropriate heatsink/fan setup for it.

Keep that part of the case on! You will need it for installation with SECC2 compatible heatsinks. Unless you want to do some modifying...
