Ok, this may be a really dumb question, but after looking through the manual, i still have no idea how to clear the CMOS on my ASUS A7V-133. I assume its a jumper like on the Abit boards...anybody?

Thanks :)

Hello there. Look next to your battery on the motherboard. There are two small soldering points that rise only a little bit above the PCB of the motherboard. Using a flat-head screwdriver, with the computer powered off, touch ONLY those two small solderings. That will clear your CMOS. Then boot back up. Sometimes you may not clear it because it's tough to get the screwdriver to touch both points at the same time. Try and try again. When you get it right, the computer will boot into the BIOS screen.

Good luck!

You can also do this with software. Create a dos system disk with an autoexec.bat that runs clrcmos.com. Download the program here and copy to the floppy. Set bios to boot floppy first. Insert diskette and restart. When the drive light goes out remove floppy and restart. I think Asus is doing away with the jumper because this method is much easier.

It should. Unplug the supply, remove the battery, short the solder points. You might try reseating the video card or swapping in an old pci based video card.

It is an absolute pain in the ass to clear the CMOS on this board. The pins are hard to find and getting to them is very tough. Then you need to be sure you contacted both pins at the same time. This is done so easily on other boards.

I agree very hard to clear the CMOS...
I do not know what the down fall is but I have the cmos.com from w98se and w98 and it has cleared the cmos on my intel bx system....

Maddmax....BTW how would you write an autoexec.bat to run clrcmos.com

Press F8 at bootup, choose command prompt only. At the C prompt, insert floppy and type format a:/s Set bios to boot floppy first. Boot the system disk you just made. At the a prompt type "copy con autoexec.bat" Press enter. Type "clrcmos.com" Press enter. Press Ctrl+z to save the file to the floppy. Add the clrcmos file to the floppy and you should be good to go. Don't type in the quotation marks of course.
