stupid question but what is AIM?

ICQ is owned by AOL anyway and has been for a few years now. AIM isn't too bad. more people I know use it, but unlike ICQ you kinda have to know someone's screen name before you can chat with them, you cna't just search. Or at least not effectively.

I like AIM, it's quicker then ICQ, but not as good for file transfer. No resume option. Nice and easy for swapping pictures and quick chatting though

Is AIM for AOL users only? anyone have a link to download this program if its not for AOL users ONLY?

Thanks,

Nope, it's not just for AOL users only. It's free to use. Head over to AOL IM and you can sign up for AOL IM and download the software. No cost whatsoever.

Unless you have friends on AIM, don't bother with it. I much prefer ICQ, more configurable and it seems more robust all around.
