Stupid question: any way to test ram outside of computer?

I realize this is a computer for dummies type question, but I have some memory that i pulled out of my laptop a while back, for upgrading reasons, and I am considering selling it online.

Aside from the hassle of putting it back in the computer, is there any way that i can check the memory to make sure it works well before i sell it?

As an alternative, would it be a taboo to sell it as "used, good working condition" if I have not actually checked it? It was working fine when I took it out of the computer, I simply was upgrading.

I would of course give full refund if anything were to go wrong.

advice needed,

Tyler

Even if you put it back in and it worked, you wouldn't be able to say anything more than "Worked when removed, No DOA guaranteed" ..and you can say that now.

"would of course give full refund if anything were to go wrong. " ..who pays shipping?

Well i would probably sell it on ebay or something to that sort so I wouldnt mind paying shipping if i needed to, it would probably be easier and not too expensive.

DOA guarantee? what would that be. Dead on arrival guarantee?

I wouldn't worry if the laptop came from the factory with that memory or it was an official factory upgrade. Otherwise didn't you thoroughly test the memory when you originally received it? 🙂

Exactly. You guarantee that it worked when you pulled it out, and therefore should work when it arrives. However, you don't guarantee how long it will work since it's a used part.

That's pretty standard for selling on the forums. Assuming you've taken good care of it since you removed it, I would just list it as working when pulled.

The memory came in my laptop, i took it out to upgrade to a larger stick. Nothing was wrong with it when i pulled it from the machine.
