Stupid question about webhosting

What is a "reseller" and "shared" plans? I see various places offer them... I suspect a shared is just your "site" is hosted on a server with multiple websites.. correct?

Gotcha - so I suspect for a slob like me that just wants about 500MB of webspace for my domain (which I need to register too) and email servers.. the cheapest shared plan that I can find that fills my needs would probably be sufficient?

You get what you pay for. I've seen just webmail hosted on a cheapy server and it's dirt slow.

Shared hosting is a term used to refer to hosting a single site on a server that is shared with many other websites. Reseller hosting, on the other hand, has a slightly deceiving name. Reseller accounts give the user the ability to host multiple websites (through seperate control panels), but these accounts also are on servers that are shared by multiple clients. It's popular by people who want to resell hosting accounts, or just those with multiple domains and want seperate control panel logins.
