Stupid question about videocard power connectors

I manage to get a hold of a bare ATI HD 3870 X2, not fully realizing that my system can even handle it. For one, the system I plan on putting this in only has a 550W TruePower PSU. I'm not even sure there's enough juice. Another thing I noticed is that this card requires two power connectors (to be expected of course), but they are of different sizes. I'm use to seeing the 6-pin ones which the PCI-E connectors plug into, but the other one is an 8-pin config. Do most modern PSU have this particular connector? I can't verify because I don't have access to this system yet. I may just end up putting this card on FS/FT forum or ebay if I can't run it.

"Unlike the Radeon 3870 there's a large heatsink covering the entire card to produce better cooling and a slightly larger fan. The card uses a 6-pin PCI-Express power connector and also an 8-pin PCI-Express power connector which they introduced with the 2900 XT. The eight pin is only necessary if you plan to use AMD Overdrive with the card, otherwise two six pin connectors will be fine."

I use 2 6 pin connectors on my 2900, I overclock with Rivatuner, so you don't even need the 8 pin for overclocking really.
