stupid question about ram

I have 128meg ddr ram in my athlon and I wanted to get more. Do I have to put another 128 in the other slot or can I combine the 128 with a 256meg?
 
Just be sure to use the same TYPE and same BRAND of ram. Mixing different brands of memory often doesen't work out too well.
