Stupid question about ECC...?

My box has ecc registered 2100 DDR ram, but when I was poking around my bios I noticed that ECC wasn't turned on. Should this be turned on? I've heard this uses up of some cpu performance.

Probably won't make much of a difference if your computer isn't used for mission critical work, but since you have it...why not?
