I am thinking about getting this power supply
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...etails.asp?EdpNo=876415&Tab=0&NoMapp=0

It comes with both a 20 pin power connector and 4-Pin 12V connector, but refers to the 4 pin as a pentium 4 plug.

My motherboard (K8N neo platinum) is an AMD board and has a 20 pin power connector as well as a seperate 4 pin power connector).
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo_Platinum&class=mb

Would the so called Pentium 4 plug work without any problems being plugged into the 12V Power connector on my mobo?

My current power supply has seperate 20 pin and 4 pin power connectors, and they work with my board fine. I think this new power supply should work too, but what is throwing me off is that many people refer to the seperate 4 pin connector as a "P4 plug".

It comes from when only the P4 needed the extra 12V
Now AMD needs it too
My DFI (AMD) mobo manual says " If you do not plug in the square 4 pin molex and turn on the mobo, serious damage WILL result"

Yup, like he said, you need it. Not using it will result in . . . problems. ;)

Actually, it just doesn't POST on some mobos if you don't plug it in. :)

The correct name for the connector is ATX 12V and both AMD and Intel boards use it.
