Stupid PS/2 Mouse Doesn't Work in Games Correctly

I got my replacement SH6 motherboard today and installed it (the old one had a bad keyboard port).

Everything is working well except for the mouse. In high CPU utilization games such as quake and halflife, the mouse movement is very jerky when I turn. If I turn with the keyboard though, everything's as smooth as silk.

I've tried 2 different mice and deleting the mouse from the hardware profile. Does anyone have any ideas?

You could get a program called ps2 rate to "overclock" your mouse port, giving it more dpi, thus making the mouse smoother. Also for quake, you should make sure you have "smooth mouse" checked in the control setup.

It smooths out a good bit at 200Hz...but still isn't like it was on the other system...

I wonder if a USB mouse would fix the problem?

Any other ideas?
