Stupid power supply question.

What is the115 or 230 switch on the back of the power supply for? What should it be set at? You can laugh now. I know nothing about electricity. Help?

You set it to the voltage that your wall socket uses - 115 for the US and Canada, 230 for most of the rest of the world.
