Stupid pet peeve

This is going to sound like a stupid pet peeve but it is one that annoys me from time to time. Do you also hate it when companies insist on using their company name as the root folder for all their software? What I mean by this is some company, lets call it 'orbsoft', makes a piece of software, let's call it 'regclean'. When you install regclean on your computer it puts it in a folder called orbsoft. Not only that but it also does the same for the start menu and any registry keys. Now one or two products like that if fine but I find it really annoying when looking through Program Files or the registry to see all these unfamiliar company names when I am just looking for the name of a small program!

I don't mind it at all. Infact, I actually enjoy it. Sometimes I have multiple programs from a certain company, so it's nice to have them organized.

I suppose I don't mind it for large well known companies like MS or adobe. But I do indeed find it annoying for small in house production companies that mostely make shareware.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. I really hate it when it gets cluttered with all that crap. I should really make a Shareware folder and store them all in that.

I never let it use defaults, so I stay pretty organized. My start menu has categories like "Audio/Video", "Games", "Applications", "Internet", etc. No company names.

it's annoying because it implies that I'll be installing more than one product from this company.

I usually just customize the location when doing the install, though.
