Stupid People Story

OK. I was thinking of some stupid things that I have seen in my life. Here is one of them:

So I was in Santa Barbara at the Denny's w/3 other friends waiting to be seated. While we were waiting, there was this huge ruckus of idiotic kids being loud, obnoxious, and rude. I am by no means a prude, but these kids were shooting spitballs, yelling at the waitress, blah blah. I'm a recent college grad and I love to party too, but these kids were severely crossing the line.

So we finally get seated. Wow -- right next to them! This was a group of 12 guys or so. All idiots.

Then all of a sudden, they all run out. And I mean run. Real fast. It was kind of hypnotizing to see such a coordinated group of idiots run in sync out of Denny's.

Apparently they wanted to skip the check.

THe waitress saw this, and she ran helplessly to get them to pay, but they had a few friends outside w/cars ready and they just took off.

Man, I felt bad for the waitress.

But wait!

I look on their table, and on it, is this brand new, $1200 camcorder.

These idiots left their camcorder on the table! AHAHAHAHHHHAHA

The waitress is all bummed out. I pick up the camcorder, and I go up to the waitress, and say, "At least they left a tip."

Man, were were all laughing at that point! The waitress had to pay for those idiots, but it was a $125 check. She got a killer camcorder for $125! ahaahah

She was so happy that she gave us our food on the house. :)

I saw her a few months later, and i asked her if anything became of the camcorder or the kids. She said that no one came back that night for the camcorder, but in the next 2 weeks after the incident, there were all these phone calls from a guy trying to get a camcorder back. She said that the manager said to them, "Sure we have a camcorder. But if you come back, we will have you arrested." They never did come back. :p

Good for you. I think $1200 is apropriate punishment for 12 idiots in a flock. That'll teach them. Imagine them explaining the loss of that camcorder to mom and dad. And yes, I think it will be mom and dad. They sound too stupid to hold a job on their own. :)

so she paid for their dinner which was $125.00 plus the dinner you and your friends had?

yeah it sounds like she's really hurting for cash...

You've obviously never had to live on tips... I used to be a waiter in Big Bear, CA and at Knott's Berry Farm. That money is enough to survive, but only just. :(

You've never had a credit card before?

Wendy, the best waitress at Denny's. She used to give us food for free, anything she didn't need to go back to the kitchen for, like pie.

That was my point. If she had to pay for their dinner why would she give you yours on the house? She'd still have to pay for it. So that would be ther dinner lus yours and your friends too. It's not literally free. Unless the owner gave it to you for free, which is a different story and a important part of the story you didn't mention.

dabuddha - what are you on about because your response to mine doesn't make sense...

My main point is that you might not have read the story carefully. She got a ~$1200.00 camcorder for $125.00. Which if you ask me, is a killer deal. Now as for paying for their dinner, she probably paid with a credit card or the manager gave it on the house. She could have sold this camcorder and easily have gotten her money back plus a lot more.

Yeah I know tell me about it. I gauge my server's tip on the "Dry Mouth" theory. If my glass of water/diet coke/etc gets empty and stays empty for some time, their tip goes down exponentially. I'm lenient if the service is little slow but don't leave me thirsty.

My Mom tried to use her library card at Marshall Fields once, only because her credit card was the same color and she didn't pay attention. The girl was like "uh, we don't take these".....:)

My girlfriend got fired on the spot when these two azzholes ran out on the bill. What's worse....the manager took the $66 out of her last check. I could have strangled the three of them.

Great story though (up top). Always like when sh*theads get their just desserts.

her boss was real cool about everything. they were all appreciative of us, and they offered us our food on the house. we only ordered 2 appetizers and a dessert -- we were just having a late nite snack.
