Stupid Parent Tricks

I've got an 18 month old and never thought of this...it's pretty easy to get started and is sitting under my desk. Time to pull the plug.

I didn't know the openings were wide enough, even for little kids' fingers! Damn!

here baby you can help me cut some vegetables.. OH MY GOD YOU CUT YOURSELF!

I just want to warn other parents not to let their kids around things that can cut themselves.. that's my goal

I wonder what lawsuits will now be brought against the shredder machine companies for failing to prevent this from happening.

Im waiting on the "stuipid b!tch" comments to show up but i doubt any of us thought they were wide enough.

Its just one of those things that can be taken for granted but can majorly screw things up.

Poor kid.

Wow. My baby isn't even crawling yet, but my house is baby-secure already. I can't imagine letting a 2yo help me with anything like that... 🙁 Particularly LEAVING THE CHILD ALONE WHILE HE'S "HELPING" :Q

I must own the safety shreader or soemthing. There is no way in hell I could little itsy bitty fingers in there. No way, not a chance!

I probably would.
Not that I think people should sue because they were stupid, but it seems to me like shredders could very easily be designed in a way that wouldn't let anything in wider than a couple of sheets of paper at a time.
Just make the slot narrow and have the blades sitting a couple inches below the opening.

Yep, I agree... I have just designed a perfect design in my head... I should hurry and patent it!
I smell a lawsuit coming!

if you have the typical POS home shredder than yeah, it's designed for 3-5 sheets.

If you have a real shredder that can handle 20+ sheets then a small kid could get a tip of a finger in and the shredder will suck in the rest until it hits a bone to big.

Ties and loose clothing used to be a problem when shredders first came out.

Lisa Broadfoot says she simply wasn't thinking when Talan and his 3-year-old brother were helping her shred paper Tuesday night.

As for the size, 2-year olds have tiny little fingers...
