So I come home today and apparently the guys painting my apartment complex left my door WIDE open and now my cat has got out...even though I TOLD THEM I had a cat. Normally I wouldnt be too worried except for the fact that everyone is moving in this week and cars are EVERYWHERE. He'd better come back in one piece or I'm firebombing the management company.

Knowing how I'd feel if one of my cats were missing, I can completely empathize.

I don't know what I'd do if someone were to lose my cat. I seriously hope you find him...

The sad thing is that I remember when I lived in CA I saw something on the news about a dog getting let out and killed and the guy sued and all he got was like 2k, something about not being part of the family crap. This was a few years ago like 99ish I think. I hope you cat makes it back, I know if I lost my dog I would freak out, she ran off a few times when I lived in CA and little kids tried to steal her, lucky I cam upon them, and they were like oh shes yours? Nevermind the collar and ID tag....stupid kids.

I don't think it's the painter's fault.. they are not paid to babysit your cat. If you KNEW that your cat would sneak out, why don't you confined her to a room or something? If I were the painter, I sure as heck wouldn't want to close all the doors and windows and breath in the paint fume.
