Stupid old man skin

I never used to have any issues in the winter but now when it gets well below freezing (which is common in MI) my skin gets dry and itchy in certain places. My shins (of all places) now need lotion applied to them occasionally. I look forward to this continuing to get worse.

There's no need to explain your increasing lotion usage. Everyone does it.

Personally I only suffer from "OLD-man skin" myself! 😉

Seriously though it could be dehydration... that's actually the most common cause of winter chapped lips for example.

I keep myself pretty well hydrated so I'm not sure that would be it

If you can increase the relative humidity in your house, it might take care of it. Worked for me (side benefit, I was actually doing it for the guitars...)
I did turn it up recently. We'll see if that helps

Time to become Florida Man.
Pass.

My lower back gets really dry and the tags on my pants drive me nuts in the winter. I had to start using Dove body wash. The last batch I got is their "deep moisture" type. It seems to be doing a decent job so far this year.

Anytime I brush up against something I get a cut. Bumped my head yesterday and now have a scab on my forehead. I hate old man skin.

Drink more water.
Apply moisturizer immediately after a shower (In the bathroom while its still steamy).
Towel off....moisturizer on.
and then drink more water.

Staying out of the sun helps for keeping skin from aging faster. But yeah at this time of year it's hard to keep skin hydrated so that does not help. Especially my hands. I'm often putting lotion on top to keep it hydrated.

If I turn the humidifier on too high it also starts to frost all the windows when we are in the -30's.

eczema is a bitch in the winter for some of us.

Also consider some hydrocortisone to help heal stubborn outbreaks.

Negative she was actually pretty good .... I take a blood thinner and I bruise easily anyway especially now that I'm old.
Nah, you're middle aged just wishing you could get into the old club. Senior discounts don't come your way just yet! And you still probably have your voice. 😉
