WTF!

I've been trying for the last month to claim a prior week of unemployment from NY while I was moving. Every single time I call, I have to sit through 5 minutes of voice prompts, only to finally get to the point where I'm SUPPOSED to talk to a human being, but instead I get a voice prompt:

"We're sorry, all available representatives are currently busy. Please call back later. (Blurb about office hours, etc next, then forced hangup)"

God, it's a good thing I don't absolutely need that money right this moment... what's with the not having the option to stay on the line for the next 3 hours waiting for someone? Grrr.

Get a job and you won't be in this mess.

I have one. I'm trying to claim the week that I was in transit to my new job after the whole getting fired after submitting resignation episode in October.

lol I think that was the same when I tried to collect like 5 years ago. I eventually gave up and didn't collect at all which was probably half the point of that system.

Wow... those guys sound almost as bad as the New York DMV! Almost :)

Seriously... I'm amazed that someone hasn't spazzed out and started shooting up the place after trying to renew their expired registration or driver's license for what seems to be the millionth time.

Never had a problem at the DMV. Of course I lived in small towns.

Fascinating. Mayhaps they should hire some of these out of work people to man the phones?

they are swamped now, totally inundated. new claims are up to a 26 yr high nationally. You know NYS is gonna be hit hard w/all the jobs being lost in the financial sector.

Make sure to file on time and don't miss a week. You can file a claim on the website on Sunday night for the previous week.
