ok, so I got all my new equipment in today, and started assembly. Keep in mind, i havent built a computer since my old Athlon 800 about 4 years ago. I notcied the standard motherboard connector doesnt match u-p, but i heard about this ATX 12V connector. I found it, and plugged it into the MB. so is that it, no big cable anymore? just the 12V ATX connector????

Here are my specs

Asus A8N-SLI DLX
PSU Antec 430 True Pwr
AMD 64 3500+

No, you need the 20-pin ATX cable too. The ATX12V cable simply supplies additional 12V current (modern CPUs and GPUs all run off of this rail). The A8N-SLI takes the new 24-pin variety, but it can be run with just a 20-pin too, as long as your PSU is of sufficient quality. What PSU are you using?

6600GTs in SLI are fine, but if you're running two 6800s of some sort (or even 6600GTs with 4 hard drives), you need a better PSU.

You plug the 20 in where mechBgon shows in the pic, and put the 12V in the 12V's own plug (the redundant wires in the 24-pin EPS12V connector are 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and a ground, while the ATX12V is two 12V wires and two grounds). You just leave the EPS12V connectors on that plug unfilled for now.
