What is it good for?
I was woken at 6:50 am to the sound of at least two firetrucks and a couple other emergency vehicles driving by on one of the major streets near my house. The noise not only woke me up, but persisted long enough for me to wonder what could possibly require that many vehicles so early in the morning.
So I turned on the morning news... to our NBC affiliate, whose studios and offices happen to be right across the freeway from my house. Look, you can see their Doppler radar. Surely whatever is big enough to need two firetrucks will at least be on their news ticker. Hmm. Something about politics, some other stuff, some stuff that has no bearing on my life, Iraq (bad news), all while they're reporting some stuff about a study linking sex to cancer or french fries to fat, or something.
It wouldn't be so silly that they weren't reporting any local news if they didn't have a big "LOCAL FIRST" badge just above the station logo.
