stupid momo shift knob

two of the three screws that hold my shift knob to the shift lever are stripped. It happened while tightening the shift knob back down after coming loose. I used a regular allen wrench and really wasn't putting all that much force on it.

ARG. I went to the place I bought it from; he called his momo rep and the momo rep said no it was my fault. wtf.

$70 down the drain after three months.

How about that if you pay $70 for a shift knob the threads shouldn't come out when the screw isn't cross threaded OR being over tightened?

I was tired of buying $30 ones that the surface fell apart or stitching came loose.

Just get the stock ones, they are built to last.
Stock ones @ online parts stores = cheap/durable goodness

I would except I have a shortened shift lever that has no threads. I have to have the style shift knob that tightens down using three allen screws

Plastic threads? I don't see why you can't have them tapped out to a bigger size/get new screws to work with it. If you don't have a tap set, bring it to a machine shop, they'll probably do it for a few bucks.

Man, I've like had the same shiftknobs for years on end.
How do you go through many shift knobs?

Do you mount them and use them as a dildo or something?

As opposed to $70 shift knobs where the screws get stripped? 😉

Or the stock one, which doesn't limit you at all, unless you're a really good driver, in which case you should have a better car, which would have a better stock shift knob, which doesn't limit you at all ...

See where I'm going here?

I was about to say,
my roomate paid like a 100 bucks for a "Razo" alum pedals and shift knob for his Focus, I kept the laughter to myself.

No, seriously, how do you do it?

I drive 1000 miles a week, I don't have any issues with a shift knob wearing out.

I have been using the same momo shift knob for 3+ yrs without any problems... And I got it for less than $30 at a 50% off sale...

seriously. just drill and tap. in fact, drill and tap a few more holes. have like 6 or 9 set screws holding it in place, and then you'll be good.

um, on second reading of your original post, se7enty7, You said the SCREWS stripped. not the threaded holes on the knob. So just get some new screws at home depot

Chill M4H. Leather is nicer to grip then even the best plastics. I don't see you yelling rice for him wanted leather seats in his car.
