Not anymore, but when I first got out of high school they called me all the time.

One was bad enough that he called 3 times in one day.

If you don't want them to contact you don't give them your name/address. Just tell them no Im not interested.

Well... they wouldn't have to solicit the military if you'd VOLUNTEER. Since the goverment is nice enough to give you the option, isn't it kinda sad how they have to reduce to become another nuisance of your life, like a common door to door salesman. I personally think that every one should give at least two years of service to their country.

No thanks. I'm not interested in being anybody's mercenary.

Just be glad many people before you made to decision to do so, just so you could have the option to voice that opinion.

Thanks for the civics lesson. But choosing to not serve in a peacetime army doesn't preclude volunteering to serve in a time of national crisis. There is a big difference.

Your post didn't say anything about the difference until now.

Plus, I still disagree. We need troops in peace time and when at war. You have to have peace time troops or there would never been enough people to protect us. Are you saying that we would be able to successfully win a war solely by draft without peacetime troops? 😕

True enough, but I still reserve the right to choose when and if I serve. I don't see any point in bringing back conscription, plus, aside from always having enough bodies, the military wouldn't be too keen on a return of citizen soldiers.

Your post sounds a little different than being someone's mercenary. To me that was an insult on the Armed Forces(on Veterans Day to boot!) and I just wanted you to clarify. Not sure why you are making a big deal about where and when you can serve. rblowdoe basically summed up why you have that right...

You don't have to be a US Citizen to be in the armed forces, just have to be a legal resident.

They get paid to be annoying, not to mention "Stretching the truth".
