Stupid Is As Stupid Does In Oklahoma

Teach basic biological science and get fined $10K for every infraction per student. I guess this makes it easier to forward inbreeding. Maybe?

Not too long along, this would be a slam dunk un-Constitutional law. With the current Supremes, who knows?

If I lived in OK and had a kid in school, I would 100% weaponize this against any fundamentalist teachers in the school.

Religious fundies are quite fond of making the absurd claim that atheism is a religion. So let's take them seriously for purposes of this statute. I'm an atheist. If I'm a student at that school, any intimation whatsoever of the existence of a deity is a finable offense.

What an unbelievably idiotic piece of legislation.

This is NOT a law in Oklahoma. It is NOT currently happening in Oklahoma. This is merely a proposed piece of legislation. Even the article says:

"Of course, the bill seems unlikely to become a law. It has been referred to the Senate Education Committee and has yet to pick up any co-sponsors. Nor does it seem likely to escape a court challenge."

The idea that is it is even being proposed is bad enough, but, in actuality, it does not exist except as a proposal..

Seems to me the guy is testing the waters for advancing theocratic legislation like this due to the current political situation in the nation whereby the Repubs are taking great pains to sow doubt and suspicion of the processes of gov't, especially in the area of how we vote.

The GOP leadership is fomenting fear and hate against those that would vote against them, is insinuating that Christianity is somehow under direct threat by the Democrats, that attacking the Constitution is a patriotic way of defending it, that violating the Rule of Law is necessary in order to keep the Democrats from winning free and fair elections, of whom represent the majority of voters of the nation (see 2020 presidential election results).

The GOP leadership and the religious leadership within their ranks are exploiting Sun-Tzu's comment where he wrote "In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity". Meaning, they are willing to risk the security and stability of the nation in order to seize and keep power for themselves.

The fact that douchebag represents Norman is a sign of just how powerful gerrymandering is. Norman itself is actually fairly "liberal" (by Oklahoma standards).
