Why do HP printers print those stupid lines and lines of garble after you cancel a print job? It keeps spitting out pages and there seems to be no way to stop it. ARG!
Its because the printer recieves incomplete data and does what it knows to do with data....print it. Only it doesnt know that the data it got was incomplete because you cancelled the print job
I've never run into that problem before. Whenever I make an accidental print with my 722c, I just hit the power button on it and it spits out the page that it feeded in. No ink wasted and no paper wasted.
Had an older HP (660Cse) that did this... I still have it, but barely use it... now I have an HP laserjet 4 Plus and it's never done that, nor has my officejet 6110
I have a Minolta Magicolor 2300 DL. It works great and very cheap for a color laser (mine cost $699). Its got network features too so I can print from any of my machines without a need for a jet direct card.
To the point, they have a cancel job option which I can use to cancel print jobs like that. W00T! Too bad for those who chose HP. I love my printer. BTW, the Magicolor was Editor's choice in PC Mag and that other UK magazine due to its print qualities. Destroyed the HP equivalent. Don't have the article with me, but I'm sure someone can google it.
i've got several hp 5si's 4si's and an 8150 only time i see anything like you are talking about is if you cancel after the job has already started printing and has data in the buffer. just power it down and it should clear the buffer data.
