I bought a 1999 Acura 3.2 tl car not even 6 months ago, and the previous owner put a hitch for a trailor on the back of it. The hitch wire connectors in the trunk got a few drops of water on them causing a few wires to burn through out my whole car! I was on the was to school, and the car started filling with smoke. Now I am in the process of fixing it myself (repair costs would be over 1200 for the mechanic for labor alone) Now I know what part I need, I just cant find anyone to sell it to me, partly because it is hard to find this car in a junk yard, and partly because I don't know what the part is called. It is a wiring harness type thing that connects from the fuse box under the dash (driver side) and connects to the trunk where it then splits off to the back lights, trunk release, etc. Any idea what that part is called? I heard someone tell me it was a room harness or something like that? any idea?

Was the fusebox pennied? I mean, seriously, this is exactly what fuses are for, so you definitely need to look into what went wrong there....

Something wiring harness. Rear? Tail?

Have you just simply tried the dealership? If they can't get it, you're just going to have to either make your own(Better research and do a good job if you don't want troubles), or find a junkyard car.

Seriously.

This isn't something that "a few drops of water" would cause. And yeah, the fuses should have protected the wires. Something is amiss.

yeah My friend put a higher fuse in the box than the one that was supposed to be there, It was a 15 was supposed to be there, but a 30 was put in its place. My friend thought it wasn't that big of a deal, but apparently it was. My tail lights went out and that is the only extra fuse we had. I shouldnt have listened.

it's probably not that expensive from the dealership parts department. i go there for little things.

as for your car, i think i would worry about a TL with a hitch. those cars already are known for having sketchy transmissions. hopefully the previous owner just used it for a bike rack and didn't actually tow anything.

It would be nice to find a car like mine that has no engine, or has been hit from the side or back. Im willing to spend up to 1500 on it to use for parts, it seems like a good idea for anyone if they have room for a junky car in thier garage.

Get this, the previous owner seemed to have been a hard core gang banger, their were bullet holes in the door, the car has limo tints all around it, and it had 20 inch rims which were removed before i bought it. When I moved the back seat, I was expecting to find some old dime bags of weed or something. As long as there are no used condoms, I'm happy.
