I can?t fix this issue and it?s really pi**ing me off!!!

When I delete a large amount of files either from the recycle bin or directly (recycle bin turned off) Windows hangs.

The mouse still works but all screen updates just freeze. Then, after a long pause that varies in length from seconds to minutes, the whole system jumps back to life.

This happens on both windows 98 and ME.

Now, here is what I?ve tried:

Checked IRQs/resources ? no conflicts.

Tried installing windows 98 and ME fresh with all my cards removed.

Tried swapping UDMA cables.

Tried different hard drives one at a time on IDE 1.

Still I have this darn problem!! This never happened on my older computers. Anyone else have a similar issue?

Have you tried a scan disk to find out if you have any bad sectors or clusters?
