Stupid fvcking company....

I apply for this job, interview, etc. They call back that day and are completely impressed with me, and say that I have the job, as long as the contract goes through. They go on to mention that there is almost no chance of it "not" going through, but they just had to add that in case the worse happened.

Explain to me. Why would a company go through the trouble of interviewing, and lining up people, and getting their hopes up, just to call at the last minute and say, woops, what do you know, the worst happened. The contract didn't get signed.

I was in a great mood today despite finals, about to start work part time with a place, taking care of financial concerns for the next year, and this is what I get.

fvck it. I'm going to get a beer.

Maybe because the contract didn't get signed.

you're right, they should wait until they get their contract, then have to spend a month staffing up for it while their deadline looms.

😀

Best case scenario is too apply at a company with a backlog of contracts. That way--there's no "waiting for contract to be signed" crap.

Interviewing for jobs that may or may not materialize is crap. They went even further and got his hopes up by saying he was "practically hired."

What a bunch of llamas. On the other hand, had they gotten the contract, they would have been uber prepared.

If I were you, I would've acted in just the same way. But what can be said about human action? So goes our efforts, motives, and other such perogatives of the human animal.

Woe are you, and woe is man. It's a collective plight. 🙂

That's better than one of the interviews I had last semester. The guy I first talked to--an electrical engineer looked at my resume, said it was great--had every qualification they wanted and then some, and signed me up with an interview with their company. I go in for the interview a few days later and the guy (mechanical engineer) who's interviewing me ask why I, a computer engineer, was applying for a position that obviously required knowledge in the electrical engineering field. I politely pointed out to him all the electrical engineering classes I've had as well as my FE in electrical engineering and we continue our little chat. Of course they also sent a secretary to interview me along with a mechanical engineer. I did great in the interview. Went home and checked the mail. Apparently they had already sent a rejection letter to me from out of state even before I went in for the interview. Had I checked the mail before going in for the interview, I wouldn't have even bothered.
