My Jeep died this morning at the end of my block. So I had to leave it there and drive my other car for the day. Went back this afternoon with my friend to tow it back to my house and I had a damn parking ticket for being with 25' of a stop sign. It's not like the thing was majorly in the way - it's a side street and I pushed it up against the curb. What the hell was I supposed to do? I couldn't push it all the way back by myself because of the snow. Meanwhile, my idiot neighbors who park up and down both sides of the street and block my driveway never have anything happen to them. Crap like this really annoys me. :disgust:

Were you really within 25' of a stop sign? If you want to dispute the distance, take a pic. If not, then it's probably still worth a trip to city hall to plead your case to the parking referee. Hell, they may just feel sorry for you.

Yeah, I was within the 25' of the stop sign. The reason I didn't call to get it towed was because I just had to wait a couple hours until my friend could help me with his truck. And it was just down the block, so calling a tow truck would've been a big hassle for nothing. Maybe if I call and explain to the city, they'll waive it or something. But knowing the morons who work there, I doubt it.

Have friend write a receipt for towing services, even if it says "No Charge", to corroborate your story of mechanical breakdown. Did you leave a note on the car? Write one up and say it was in the window.
Fight the ticket. Chances are you will get it reduced / removed. Must have some proof though, Word against Word is a wash with preference going to Law Enforcement.
Regarding neighbors, take pictures, especially if parking enforcement drives by without ticketing. Call Dept. of Parking Enforcement and share what you know.
Call and make complaints when they are in your driveway. Log the date and time. Bring that info with you when you complain about "selective enforcement".
