Soooo... stupid criminal story of the day...

Some jackass got a hold of my credit card number... And ordered two Pizzas delivered to his house. I got the info about the vendor from my credit card company and the vendor gave me the name, address and phone number of the people who ordered the pizza. They also ordered some things on-line and had them sent to the same address. The address is real... It's only a few miles from my house.

What a moron. The cop was trying not to laugh on the phone when I reported it. "This shouldn't take too long" was his response to the whole thing.

If it weren't my money I'd be LMAO. As it is, it's still kind of funny. I can't believe anyone would be that stupid. Thank God criminals aren't the brightest people.

umm... aren't you not responsible for fraudulent charges on your CC resulting from theft? I had always thought so :Q

It might be that the real thief had the pizza and stuff delivered to that address to frame someone........

He never said he was liable for them, The bank doest magically know that charges are fraudulent, you need to report them in most cases.......

after the cops catch them (seems inevitable) then the charges can all be reversed; no damage done.

My dad had this happen to him like 10 years ago as I remember he went to the guys house which was about 15 minutes from ours and the guy wasnt home so he told the guys wife what had happened and she SKITZED b/c she wasnt aware that her husband was doing this. I think my dad left it up to her to deal with the husband cause she prolly gave it to him more than my dad couold have

Oh trust me, I thought about it. But since I've already called the cops... No point in getting myself in trouble.

UNESCO... You're right. The CC company will knock the charges off my acct. But still... What a pain in the ass. I've spent the last two hours on hold trying to change all my auto-pay info... talking to the CC Company... Cops... etc. But that wasn't the point of the OP.

I understand your frustration with the lost time, hassle, etc... I'd be just as mad.

Sorry for taking the post OT; but wow, those guys really had no idea you'd find out about the charges? Have they never used a credit card (or realized there's a bill!)

I have no Idea. I'm very careful about that stuff. They didn't get it out of my mailbox. I have a locked box. My best guess is I forgot to shred something and they went dumpster diving.

However they got it, their methods couldn't have been too sophisticated.
