I dont know if you need it or not...but I installed it, and everything's just fine for me. So I say install it. Can't hurt.

Why arent you useing the drivers that came on the disk with the board??? Read the manual you load the AMD drivers then the VIA. Thats what I did and it kicks a$$.

faq on epox's website and epox tech support sez:

first install amd miniport driver
then via busmaster driver
then via usb filter

that's it

DON'T INSTALL AGP MINIPORT

do this after setting bios for optimal settings, disabling sound in bios if u don't use it,
set plug n play to no, but enable usb mouse if you have one.

Because they are 2 months old and have several bugs, whereas a brand new version of 4in1's was released this week?????

Use the 4-in-1's. 4.31 works fine just DO NOT install the agp driver. The reason ppl say not to use the 4-in-1's is because Epox site says use the via drivers they provide which is really just a break down of the 4.31. They work great and you'll know you can always have the lastest update instead of waiting for Epox to break the up and post them.

I agree with Zuluwarrior. Install the AMD (not the Via) AGP Miniport Driver, the Via IRQ Routing Driver, the Via IDE Busmaster Driver, and the Via USB Filter Driver. These drivers can be downloaded separately (instead of in the 4-in-1) by visiting viahardware.com

Renob: Chainbolt does know what he's talking about, he just didn't qualify his remarks very well. Under Windows 2000 or Millenium Edition, you don't have to install the drivers, as Microsoft has built-in generic ones that will work. However, I'd go ahead and install the drivers anyway. I've never had a problem with them and I think some of the Via drivers are at least marginally better than the built-in MS ones.
