"Compliment of the season to you. I am <insert crappy name here> from Califonia USA, but Presently i am leading a conventional church program in London. I saw your item below and i will like to buy it for my daughter that will be starting a Computer science course in University of Nigeria Next week. Dont worry about the shippment to Nigeria ok? i will send you my company fedex account after the payment so that you can ship the item to her without paying any shippment fee. I would have prefer to send you a cheque but simply because i want you to ship the item first thing tomorrow morning, i will be sending you the payment via PayPal so make sure you get the package ready for tomorrow shippment ok? and kindly send me your paypal address or your contact address so that i can send the paypal payment right away and you can just ship the item immediately you recieve the paypal confirmation. thanks, so mail me now because its urgent."

The hell? Don't these retarded scammers know that Nigeria is the country most often picked for ebay scamming?

Oh yeah, buyer has 0 feedback... go figure. I hate it when people make me waste my listing fees.

you would think they'd start using a different country instead of nigeria, i mean that would at least give it a hint of authenticity.

Is there any way I can convince ebay that it's a scam and they can let me relist for free? I'm not sure how to avoid having this happen repeatedly.

isn't there some "second chance" option or something of that sort where you can give it to the 2nd highest bidder?

...and within 24 hours, no longer a registered user of EBay. What a waste.

Hw's going to pay you first, and it's not like there's any danger with paypal, so if he doesn't pay, you don't send the item. How does the scam work if they only have your paypal adress? They can't get money from you, and they pay before you ship it out anyway. I can see that it could be a scam, but how does it work?

They slowly modify the plan until they sucker you shipping first. Then they disappear off the face of the map.

Woohoo! Scammer #2 didn't tube my auction, just posted a question.

"Good day to you,I saw your items displayed on this site which fascinated my imagination just like the same thing that my son who has just graduated and ready to begin with his own life had asked me to buy for him.I will like to know if you can ship this items to Africa ,but I really want this items to get to him before his B-day that's coming up in 2 weeks time.I will be making the payment thru bidpay coz I have an account with them simply bcos of their newly introduced measure of security for both buyers amd sellers.I will need ur name, address and phone number in order to make the payment sap.Lastly,I'll create the shipment thru my fedex account while I will only send you the shipping label which you will print out and paste on the package before droping it into any fedex delivery box or at any fedex office in your area, even if they aren't in the office, you can drop it in the front of their office once you have pasted the shipping label on it.I'll be xpecting ur reply."

I've gotta wonder how successful these people are at snagging this stuff on ebay as the only people contacting me are pretending to have broken English and need me to ship internationally, which I've already stated in my auction I won't do. At least they said "Africa" this time, which is more generic than "Nigeria." Has anybody had any experience with trying the validity of one of these buyers? Do they have a way of reversing their payment through bidpay or paypal or something?
