Stupid DVI => Analog VGA question...

I just picked up a second CRT monitor, & I don't have a DVI to VGA adapter. For that matter I also don't have a spare SVGA extension either (Monitor has dual inputs & detachable cables).

So rather than buying the adapter + the regular SVGA cable is there any reason I can't use this one?

Any advantage either way? I'd prefer to avoid using the adapter if possible & this seems like a clean way of doing it.
