Stupid Dog Chewed Through Vacuum Cable

We have a 6 month old pup and he is not usually much of a chewer......until today

We came home to find he chewed right through the electrical cord on our vacuum cleaner.

LUCKILY it was not plugged into an outlet at the time :Q

My question is.....where can I take my vacuum to get a new cord fitted and any idea how much it would cost?

Any vacuum supply/repair shop should be able to fix this for you. It'll probably cost between $25-@50. If your vacuum is pretty old, it might make sense just to use this as an opportunity to get a new one.

do it yourself, get some cabling and go ahead.

unless you suck with this kinda stuff...

how about the plug end?

You basically cut off an inch from where he did the chewing to get clean wire again. Use the repair material to connect the two again. You have the plug end...

just take the bare wires and push them into the electrical outlet.

no need to waste your money on a lame repair kit

so you basically strip the wires back, connect them back together then tape then back up?

personally what i'd do, go to a hardware store, and for <$2 get a new plug. strip back the cabling where your dog bit it, and if its too short add some more cable (make sure its quite thick, i think vacuum cleaners suck power, and your dog chews cables) and attach it firmly. the other side, just wire it into the plug that you bought from the hardware store. voila.

I wouldn't bother getting a new plug, since yours is intact. It'd be far easier to solder the cables back together (splice in more if he did a lot of chewing).
